Haiti Relief - Special Collection
Dear St. E’s parish family,
Many of you have been asking whether we would take up a special collection to help victims of the recent earthquake and hurricane in Haiti. The short answer is “yes – on Sunday, August 29.”
We have been trying to get in touch with our sister parish in Magagnosse to find out whether our brothers and sisters there had been affected by these recent calamities. We were finally able to confirm this week that they had been mercifully spared.
We will certainly continue to support our sister parish, but in response to the current crisis, and as encouraged by Cardinal Gregory and the entire U.S.C.C.B., we will take up a special collection this Sunday to help the ongoing relief efforts directed at the regions of Haiti most in need. To that end, we will forward all funds collected to Catholic Relief Services for Haiti relief.
Allow me to thank those of you who so generously support our sister parish, with special thanks to Fons Marcelis for his extraordinary efforts to maintain communication with them and help shepherd our ongoing support. Thanks, too, for your willingness to help the victims of the recent earthquake and hurricane.
With kind personal regards and deep gratitude for your generosity, I remain
Sincerely in Christ,
Msgr. Bill Parent

Children’s Liturgy of the Word Update
“Jesus said, ‘Let the children come to me, and do not prevent them; for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’”-Matthew 19:14. The start of Children’s Liturgy of the Word is currently being postponed due to the current situation and lack of space to offer the ministry during Mass. We look forward to when we will be able to offer Children’s Liturgy once more and we love seeing you and your family at Mass!
Walking with Purpose—Women’s Bible Study
We would like to welcome women of the parish to join us this Fall for our next Walking with Purpose Bible Study, Discovering Our Dignity. Women of the Old and New Testaments were as flawed and broken as we can be, yet the power of God worked in their lives. Learn from their experiences in Discovering Our Dignity, a 22-lesson Bible study. Through their stories recorded in Scripture, women of the Bible reach out to touch our “present” in a tender, honest and loving way -- woman to woman -- with ancient wisdom, sage advice, and insights from sorrowful failures and emotional wounds.
